The first set of symptoms which most people who have suffered from appendicitis have reported is a general abdominal pain in some cases this symptom is preempted or complemented by a loss of appetite, nausea and even vomiting which is mainly caused by an intestinal obstruction.

In most cases the pain cannot be localized to a specific location, it appears to defuse around a person’s abdominal area, this normally happens when the inflammation is related to the small intestine or the appendix in other words, when a patient is asked him to pinpoint the location of the pain or discomfort most of them indicate the general area with a circular motion around the abdomen.

As the inflammation increases it moves from the outermost part of the appendix to an membrane which is called peritoneum, when this membrane becomes inflamed and the pain normally changes and is now able to be pinpointed to an area which is localized between the bellybutton and the front of the right hip, this area was named after Dr. Charles McBurney and is commonly referred to as the McBurney point.

If on the other hand the appendix becomes ruptured because of the inflammation, but there it which surrounds the appendix may cause further complications and the pain may be hard to pinpoint if these conditions are met.

The first method to determine and diagnose appendicitis is through a physical examination, most patients will often have an elevated temperature or fever and will show signs of particular pain around the lower part of the abdomen, especially when the doctor pushes inwards over this area.

There are other methods to diagnose the inflammation of the appendix such as a white blood cell count, an urinalysis, abdominal x-rays, barium enema, laparoscopy, ultrasound and many other methods, but for the most part the symptoms are normally related to an, lost of appetite and vomiting.

Heart disease is a general term for a number of different diseases, all of which influence the heart in some way. Heart disease is in fact considered as being the leading reason of death nowadays in the United States. Heart disease indeed possesses serious threat to many people. Therefore, it is important to understand the methods to prevent and treat heart disease.

Prevention methods

There is reason to be hopeful because according to experts, heart disease prevention is promising. Even though some risk factors including sex, genetics, and age of a person are not within our control, one can still make an alteration in lifestyle and also change diet so that the odds of heart disease are significantly reduced.

There are also other methods by which heart disease prevention can be achieved. According to what the American Heart Association proposes, one must control obesity even in children and also make a determined attempt to take proper diet that contains enough nutrition. One of the better nutritional supplements you may want to try for heart disease prevention is mangosteen puree that is rich in antioxidants which aid in destroying free radicals that are the reason behind damage to cells and which in turn will result in heart disease.

Good heart disease prevention may also mean controlling the blood pressure and having LDL cholesterol at low levels. The best way to attain these goals is by making appropriate changes to diet and even by taking medications if so recommended by the doctor. Clearly, having low blood sugar levels will consider as heart disease prevention.

Another alternative is to exercise because it is a well known fact that regular exercise can reduce the risks of heart disease. Experts have a tendency to recommend as much exercise as humanly possible at least an hour per day. For many people, this seems like a never-ending task but the truth is this amount of exercise can be attained in ways other than going to the gym. Basically changing some habits, such as walking to work, can make people healthier. Walking is perhaps the easiest, cheapest, and healthiest type of exercise for most people and therefore should be taken advantage of.

The best heart disease prevention may not be a solitary course of action; rather, one may decide to have many strategies combined into one that will prove to be more effective. You can select approaches such as changes in diet, together with reducing excess weight and also maintaining blood sugar levels as well as taking nutritional supplements that are suggested by health experts.

Treatment options for heart disease

If you have heart disease then you will have to have some types of heart disease treatment in order to solve your problem. There are various heart disease treatment options that are available nowadays. The first treatment is of course prevention as explained previously.

However, if your heart disease is serious, than most probably you will also have to use more serious techniques of heart disease treatment. This includes medical treatment, which will usually be started straight away, even before an exact diagnosis of a heart problem is made.

This medical treatment may comprise of oxygen from a tube in the nose, oxygen through a face mask, nitroglycerin under the tongue, pain medicines, and aspirin. There are also clot dissolving medications which are often given, and the earlier these drugs are given, the higher the chances of opening the blocked artery and defending the cardiac muscle from further injury.

Cellular therapy, for example, is considered as being a potential treatment for heart disease. This is due to cellular products have been revealed to hold great potential for the treating of injured and diseased tissues in the body. They come from many sources, such as stem cells from bone marrow, peripheral blood, and myoblasts from skeletal muscle cells. The research so far has shown that this cellular therapy offers amazingly positive results, and so with additional research and more advancement, in the future this just may be known as the cure for heart disease.

Surgery can be executed on those who experience heart disease at any age although other methods are preferable. Surgery is necessary for those who do not react to their medications or whose condition worsens radically. In some situations, surgery is the only method to amend the problem and give the patient a probability of good health. In uncommon cases, repeat surgery is needed afterward to rid the body of excess fluids that have developed in the chest.

Heart surgery can be wearing and the healing period can be slow so it is no surprise to find out that a huge number of people who suffer from heart disease which needs surgery are interested in less invasive surgery. Less invasive surgery for heart disease can involve smaller incisions, less pain, and a much faster healing period. Not only does this type of surgery involve shorter hospital stays, it can also reduce the risks of complications to the patient during and after the operation.

There are many resources that are available if you want more information on the treatment of heart disease. The most significant thing of all is to keep a healthy lifestyle, a healthy and nutritious diet, and plenty of exercise. By keeping a healthy lifestyle you will not only be guarding yourself against heart disease but as well against all illnesses and health conditions in general.

Autism or otherwise called as autistic disorder is characterized by a child’s difficulty in social interaction because of otherwise disruptive or abnormal behavior, a problem with expressing oneself through speech and an obsessive need to present his or her interest repetitively. Diagnosing autism is quite difficult as the symptoms often overlap with other behavior disorders in children. Sad to say, however, if a child has autism, the prevention or cure is unattainable. Although a lot of people, parents and researchers alike are still looking for ways to treat this brain malfunction in children.

Click Here For Autism Symptoms and Treatments Best Deal Now!

A lot of medical practitioners, psychiatrists and clinicians present different factors in diagnosing autism. Many would signify a great manifestation of aloofness and a delayed speech development as a form of autism. Since they do not interact well with their surroundings, they lack the peer relationship that usually happens at this stage with kids. Moreover, children with autism are described as not exerting much effort to communicate even through other modes like non-verbal communication. They would often be pictured out as repeating words and phrases and playing with themselves alone than spontaneously opening up to others. It is also often expected that these children would have severe mannerisms that are already a hindrance to their functioning.

Doctors have often been diagnosing autism to male children than female ones, as females would often just be diagnosed as severely retarded rather than autistic. It is not explained though what the real percentage of the population would this disorder be more manifested in, the rich or the poor.

Physiologically, a child exhibiting these symptoms of autism would appear very normal unless they have exhibited mental retardation which is more likely a 70% possibility. Other biological symptoms and factors in diagnosing autism would fall under underperforming of tasks especially if it would call for empathic communication as these children lack the interaction they are supposed to present.

It also helps to present tests to children before diagnosing autism. More often than not they will manifest grand mal seizures at some time and somehow would present ventricular enlargement on CT scans. There some abnormalities in test results especially in the brain and heart functions. This is mostly the case if there are histories in the family or any traumas that were incurred during the pregnancy of the mother of the child with autism.

Scabies is an infection of the skin that used to very very common in the past, and it can still be encountered many times nowadays, especially in rural environments or in large institutions such as the army.

Scabies can quickly and easily spread from one person to another by a simple skin to skin contact, by wearing the clothes that were previously worn by someone with scabies, or by sleeping in the same bed where that person has slept. The parasites that cause scabies move very slowly and they can’t jump, so you can’t get them by sitting near a scabies patient.

Very little mites are responsible for causing scabies. These mites are attracted to the heat and smell of the human body. They have an incubation period of a few weeks, so the symptoms only appear some time after you have been infected. But scabies is contagious in these first incubation weeks too, so you can have it and give it to others without knowing about it.

After the incubation period passes the mites begin to burrow deep in the skin, and the females will lay eggs in the small tunnels that they create. In some cases the tunnels that they dig can be discovered if you look really careful.

The first symptoms that appear are irritation and itching in the areas where the scabies developed. Usually these areas are the hands and the feet first, and if it’s left untreated the mites can spread in other places too. In a few weeks you can discover that you have thousands of mites on your skin if you don’t eliminate them quickly.

The red itchy rash that develops when you have scabies can look like threads or like dots, depending on the patient. The scabies mites prefer to live between the fingers and around the wrists, so that’s where the signs will appear first.

In the beginning the itching caused by scabies is lighter, but in two weeks it will be unbearable, and the patient won’t even be able to sleep during the night time because of the itching.

If you suspect that you have scabies, or you find out that a close friend or family member has it, consult a doctor as soon as you can in order to prevent the mites from laying more eggs. If you find out that you do have scabies, you need to start a simple treatment that has the purpose of killing all the mites from your body and their eggs too. You’ll need to apply some creams or ointments on your skin for some time until the mites die, but you’ll still experience irritation and rash symptoms until their dead bodies disappear from the body too.

Bipolar disorder’s primary symptoms are unpredictable, severe mood swings. An individual suffering from the disorder experiences episodes that subject him/her to mood swings between severe mania and depression (most times with periods of normal moods in between). He/she may be more prone to mania or depression, or experience both extremes in equal frequency. This article enumerates the more prevalent symptoms of bipolar disorder and how to recognize them.

An episode of mania is marked by several distinctive symptoms. The most common signs of mania include increased energy, happiness, and restlessness. Individuals suffering from bipolar disorder may display a lasting euphoria that is unusual for them, which is a sure sign to those around them that something isn’t right. They may also experience thinking and talking very quickly, often jumping from one topic to another. They also requires little sleep to keep up their energy levels during the day.

During a manic phase, individuals may display unrealistic belief in their own abilities and powers. This may result in poor judgment and decision-making – some individuals may indulge in spending sprees and other reckless social behavior. These individuals may also have difficult times while at work, as they are often extremely irritable and distractable. They also find it hard to concentrate on their work. These are notable symptoms of bipolar disorder.

Other symptoms of bipolar disorder’s manic phase includes an increased sexual drive. The feelings of grandeur and invincibility may also lead the sufferer to abuse drugs (particularly cocaine), alcohol, and sleeping medications. And for all the trouble they may potentially cause, they may deny that anything is wrong, or insist that they are not in fact suffering from a major psychological illness.

Conversely, an individual with bipolar disorder going through a depressive phase experiences lasting sadness, emptiness, anxiousness, or despair. They are often overly pessimistic, and have unbased thoughts of guilt, worthlessness, or helplessness. These negative feelings almost certainly result in loss of interest or pleasure in activities the sufferer may have once enjoyed, such as sex.

During a depressive phase, the individual may either sleep too much or not at all. This results in decreased energy levels during the day. While at work, the person has difficulty concentrating, remembering, and making decisions, resulting in an inefficiency unusual to the individual. They may also be restless or irritable, and may experience chronic pain, discomfort, and other bodily symptoms with seemingly no known causes. These symptoms of bipolar disorder should cause an alarm to those around the individual.

Perhaps the most dangerous symptom of a depressive phase entails thoughts of suicide. A high rate of individuals suffering from bipolar disorder die due to self-inflicted causes, and often the condition is not recognized until it is too late for the individual. It is imperative that anyone who displays any of the symptoms of bipolar disorder enumerated above be checked by a professional on the condition. The prompt and early treatment of this disorder will prevent any harm to patients and those around them.

When diagnosed with cancer or any other serious disease there are hundreds of questions and even more decisions to make. For most people this process is daunting and certainly not easy. That’s why we have asked independent specialists from around the globe a series of the most pressing questions you may have ALL ANSWERS are completely FREE FOR YOU Marcus Freudenmann: We are so used to being stressed and running to keep up that we would rather take a pill and keep going instead of listening to what this disease is trying to tell us. DO NOT PANIC!

Sit back and consider your options. Never run and make a fast decision or do anything which seems forced upon you. Familiarize yourself with the idea, start ding some research and inform yourself. Disease, and cancer in particular does not grow overnight, nor does it progress overnight. It’s a process which takes years to develop and in 99% of cases which are diagnosed with cancer there is more to be gained by doing research, study and gathering information, than in there is in any fast reactive steps. When diagnosed with cancer you have a huge amount of options and the most important thing is to make yourself familiar with all of them and then decide. In our MEMBERS AREA at cancer.maxawareness you will also find workshops, seminars and helpful guidelines from Petrea King, Don Tolman, Dr. Med. Douwes, Michelle Richmond, Dr. Med.

If your dog has been poisoned, you need to seek treatment quickly. There are a few symptoms of dog poisoning that you should be aware of. These signs mainly depend on the amount of toxin that your dog ingested and his weight. Before we discuss these dog poisoning symptoms, let’s take a look at some of the common ways your dog can get poisoned.

Causes

Dogs usually eat or drink toxin materials. Antifreeze that leaks from your car tastes sweet to animals, so they will readily lick it. Your dog can also eat a mushroom that pops up after a rainy night. Toxins can also be delivered in the form of insect stings or hazardous fumes. In some cases, dogs absorb the materials through their skin.

Skin

Speaking of skin, the development of a rash is one of the first symptoms of dog poisoning. The rash occurs when toxins enter through the skin and are absorbed in the bloodstream. However, sometimes a rash can form because of dermatitis or another skin condition.

Blood

One of the more serious dog poisoning symptoms is the appearance of blood. Some toxins are dangerous enough to cause internal bleeding. You may notice blood in your dog’s stool, vomit, or from the nose. One of the common substances that causes this sign is rat poison. So, always be careful when using this around your home.

Brain

Some substances affect your dog’s brain. This can lead to loss of coordination which you can easily notice when your dog moves around. Damage to the brain can also cause seizures or tremors. Another severe sign that the brain has been affected is the loss of consciousness. Sometimes, dogs can remain conscious but appear to be in their own world. Death usually follows if the dog slips into a coma.

Appetite

One of the final symptoms of dog poisoning is the loss of appetite. If poisoned, your dog’s mouth or tongue may become swollen. This will make it more difficult for him to eat. However, a dog can lose his appetite due to many other diseases.

To be told you have heart disease can strike fear into anyone hearing it for the first time, however it’s not as bad as it sounds.

In this article I am going to explain some of the terms, causes and remedies associated with heart disease.

Heart disease is a general term used to describe several different conditions, all of which are potentially fatal, but are also treatable and/or preventable.

Heart disease is primarily a disease of lifestyle, and is largely preventable through risk factor awareness and modification.

However it is a serious condition and if ignored it is a major cause for heart attacks (myocardial infarction), congestive heart failure, angina pectoris, stroke, sudden cardiac arrest (SCA), and ischemia (reduced blood flow).

The most common form of heart disease is coronary heart disease, also known as coronary artery disease

CORONARY

Coronary artery disease is the most common form of heart disease, it is caused by a narrowing or clogging of the coronary arteries that supply the heart with oxygen and nutrients.

Coronary artery disease and the resulting reduced blood flow to the heart muscle can lead to other heart problems, such as chest pain (angina) and heart attacks myocardial infarction).

The risk of coronary heart disease can be reduced by taking steps to prevent and control those adverse factors that put people at greater risk for heart disease and heart attacks.

CHOLESTEROL

If you have too much cholesterol in your bloodstream, the excess is deposited in arteries, including the coronary arteries, where it contributes to the narrowing and blockages that cause the signs and symptoms of heart disease.

High levels of the wrong type of cholesterol (LDL) can be life threatening especially because this type of cholesterol has the capability to choke the arteries and thus cause a heart attack.

What happens is that the levels of the lipoprotein, which is made in the liver and in cells lining blood vessels, rise with things that make heart disease more likely, like smoking, obesity, high cholesterol and diabetes.

Conversely the levels fall when patients stop smoking, lose weight and get their cholesterol and diabetes under control.

Cholesterol levels should be less than 5.5. If your cholesterol level is 6.5 mmol/L or greater your risk of heart disease is about 4 times greater than that of a person with a cholesterol level of 4 mmol/L.

The best defense against high cholesterol is simply controlling the risk factors that could lead to coronary artery disease, such as high blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes, smoking, stress, excessive alcohol consumption, physical inactivity and being overweight.

Regular aerobic activities have a good effect on blood vessels and cholesterol.

Dietary aids to lowering cholesterol

1. reduce cheese intake and/or substitute low fat varieties

2. choose reduced fat milks

3. substitute polyunsaturated margarine for butter

4. choose lean cuts of meat and remove all visible fat

5. eat skinless chicken, fish or beans

6. beware of pies, pasties, fish and chips and commercial cakes (hidden fat)

7. make cakes at home with polyunsaturated fat, cook chips with polyunsaturated or monounsaturated oil

8. lose weight if overweight.

High blood pressure also causes many other types of cardiovascular disease, such as stroke and heart failure.

ARTERIES

Coronary artery diseases are diseases of the arteries that supply the heart muscle with blood.

If you suffer from CAD it generally means that blood flow through the coronary arteries has become obstructed, reducing blood flow to the heart muscle.

Like any muscle, the heart needs a constant supply of oxygen and nutrients, which are carried to it by the blood in the coronary arteries.

When the coronary arteries become narrowed or clogged by cholesterol and fat deposits (atherosclerosis), the heart cannot get enough and the result is coronary heart disease (CHD).

STROKE

Other cardiovascular diseases include stroke, high blood pressure, angina (chest pain), and rheumatic heart disease. Smoking and uncontrolled high blood pressure are important risk factors for stroke.

Although stroke is highly preventable, certain risk factors such as; family history, age, sex and race can’t be controlled.

People with diabetes are also two to four times more likely to die of heart disease and experience stroke.

PREVENTION

Although heart disease is a serious condition that requires constant monitoring, there are many things you can do to reduce your risk for cardiovascular problems and live a full, active life, even if you should suffer a heart attack.

Study results indicate that heart disease is almost twice as likely to develop in inactive people as in those who exercise regularly.

However studies have also shown that after five years of giving up smoking, the risk of developing heart disease is the same as for someone who never smoked.

As well, if you exercise on a regular basis, the chance of your developing heart disease is about half that of people who do no exercise at all.

Arthritis is a disorder in the joints that features inflammation. Most of the time, it is accompanied by joint pain, which is called as arthralagia. The disease is categorized as one of the rheumatic illnesses, which are conditions that vary in each illness, with varying features, complications, treatments and prognoses.

There are more than 100 types of arthritis, with each one having different causes. The only similar features between these types of arthritis are their tendency to affect the joints, ligaments, tendons, cartilage and the muscles. Most types also have the potential to affect internal body areas. The following are the most common types of arthritis, with each type featuring particular symptoms:

Osteoarthritis Arthritis Symptoms

Osteoarthritis is the most typical form of arthritis characterized by a low-grade inflammation resulting to pain in the joints due to the wearing of the cartilage which covers and serves as a cushion inside the joints. Over time, as the bone surfaces become less well secured by the cartilage, the affected person may suffer from pain during weight bearing, including standing and walking.

Rheumatoid Arthritis Symptoms

This type of arthritis is considered as a chronic disease and an autoimmune ailment which causes the immune system to attack the joints. It can lead to considerable loss of mobility brought about by pains and destruction of the joints, this is why rheumatoid arthritis or RA is considered to be a disabling and painful inflammatory condition. Ra is also a systemic ailment. Most of the time, it affects extra-articular tissues in the entire body including the blood vessels, lungs, heart, the skin and the muscles. Based on statistics, about 6 out of 10 patients with RA are unable to work 10 years after the onset of their illness.

Juvenile Arthritis Symptoms

Another typical form of this particular type is the juvenile rheumatoid arthritis. The diagnosis, disease characteristics as well as treatment approaches of this particular type of arthritis will vary in children and adults. While some children is able to recover completely from the disorder, some may also remain affected throughout their lives. Based on recent statistics, about 200,000 Americans are affected by this disease.

Septic Arthritis Symptoms

Septic arthritis is characterized by the attack of the joint area by a certain infectious agent which causes arthritis. The usual agent of infection are bacteria however, there are also reported cases of arthritis that are being caused by viruses, mycobacteria and fungi. These agents of infection are transported through the bloodstream that has originated from an infectious focus elsewhere. It could be introduced from a skin lesion that penetrates the joint, or by expansion from adjacent tissue for instance bursae or bones.

Gout Arthritis Symptoms

This type of arthritis can lead to sudden severe attacks, typically occurring in the big toe, although any other joints can also be affected. Gout arthritis is a metabolic disorder wherein uric acid accumulates in the blood and forms in joints and other places. Attention to one’s diet and drug intake can control gout.

Lower back pain is a common affliction, with millions each year visiting physicians for relief. Not only will they seek relief, they will want a diagnosis.

It is not always easy to diagnose lower back pain. Many body structures can cause it. There are muscles, ligaments, and tendons; spinal column bones; joints, discs and nerves. In addition to these structures, there may be underlying medical conditions your physician needs to evaluate.

Whether you initially diagnose lower back pain yourself, or leave that to your physician, the diagnosis will need to consider both the location and symptoms of your pain.

Step 1 – Location

The first step is to decide the location. “Where does it hurt?”

1. Axial lower back pain: This lower back pain hurts only in the low back. Pain does not travel into any other area.

2. Radicular lower back pain: This lower back pain hurts in the low back, and also radiates down the backs of the thighs into one or both legs.

3. Lower back pain with referred pain: Diagnose lower back pain with referred pain if it hurts in the low back area, and tends to radiate into the groin, buttocks, and upper thighs. The pain will rarely radiate below the knee, but may seem to move around.

Step 2 – Symptoms

Once you diagnose lower back pain as to location, you will consider symptoms. “How does it feel?”

1. Worsens with certain activities: If you play football, for example, the pain is worse.

2. Worsens in certain positions: Perhaps it gets worse if you stand for too long. Or it is more painful after you sit in a car.

3. Feels better after rest: Resting from the activity or position usually reduces the lower back pain.

4. Deep and steady: Not a sharp muscle catch, this pain is constant and deep within the affected areas.

5. Severe: The pain is excruciating, possibly more so in the calf than the lower back.

6. Numbness and tingling: There may be “pins and needles” within the area.

7. Fleeting pain: Pain may seem to come and go, leaving you unsure at times just how it feels.

8. Achy and dull: Like the flu, this pain is sore and dull, though sometimes intensifying.

9. Migratory: It hurts in one spot, then another.

Diagnosis

AXIAL: If location is best described by number 1 above, and symptoms are a combination of 1, 2, and 3, you can probably diagnose lower back pain as being axial – the most common type. This is also called “mechanical” lower back pain. A variety of back structures can cause axial lower back pain, and it is difficult to identify which is the cause. Axial pain gets better on its own, and about 90% of patients recover within six weeks.

RADICULAR: If location is best described by number 2 above, and symptoms are a combination of 4, 5, and 6, you can probably diagnose lower back pain as being radicular – commonly called sciatica. This lower back pain is caused by compression of a lower spinal nerve, usually the sciatica nerve that runs from the spinal column, down the back of the thighs to the feet. Doctors usually recommend conservative treatment such as physical therapy exercises, medications, and possibly spinal injections, for six to eight weeks.

REFERRED: If location is best described by number 3 above, and symptoms are a combination of 7, 8, and 9, you can probably diagnose your pain as being lower back pain with referred pain – the least common type. This lower back pain is treated the same as axial back pain and frequently goes away as the problem resolves on its own.

How do you diagnose lower back pain?

Diagnose lower back pain with care. You need an accurate diagnosis, which your physician can best make, to be sure no underlying causes need attention. It is not enough to know you have sciatica. You need to know the underlying cause of the sciatica to determine treatment options.

If you do diagnose lower back pain, check the diagnosis with your physician.
